Science Fair Projects

We will be holding a Science Fair in the Summer Term, 2005, at St Edmund's Catholic School, Dover.

What is a Science Fair?

At a Science Fair, each student has a small area where they can demonstrate what they have found out in their Science Fair Project.

What is a Science Fair Project?

Before a Science Fair, the students spend a number of weeks researching and experimenting all about a topic of their choice.

What do I have to do for my Science Fair Project?

Follow these simple steps...

  • 1. Use the Science Fair WebQuest to guide you
  • 2. Choose an area of Science that especially interests you
  • 3. Decide on something you could investigate using an experiment, and make a prediction (also called a hypothesis) to say what you think you will find out
  • 4. Carefully choose your apparatus and write a short method and a risk assessment for your experiment
  • 5. Carry out your experiment carefully and safely - you can do this at school during tutor time, after-school or at lunch with permission, or at home if it is safe to do so
  • 6. Produce a large (A2 or bigger) poster, a leaflet and a presentation about what you have researched and found out in your project
  • 7. Be prepared to talk to people about your project at the Science Fair, and to show your experiment to people
  • 8. If you can, take photos or videos of how you did your project
