Egg Parachutes Competition

ScienceVT are holding a competition to design, test and build an Egg Parachute.  The parachute should help an egg survive a fall of at least 10 metres.

There are two categories for entry:

Normal Parachuting

In the normal parachuting category, Egg Parachutes will need to survive a fall of 10 metres onto hard ground.

In this category, the Egg Parachutes may only be made from:

  • Plastic bags
  • Paper
  • Card
  • Straws
  • String
  • Sticky tape
  • Colourful decoration

Extreme Parachuting

The Extreme Parachuting category is only for those who are aware that it could seriously damage their health!  You must hold no fears!

The Egg Parachute must survive a fall of 12 metres onto hard ground.

In this category, the Egg Parachutes may be made from:

  • Anything at all (no flames, helium balloons, other buoyancy aids or dangerous items please)
  • There is a restriction that the Egg Parachute must have a mass no greater than 500g.

Individuals or groups may enter one or both competitions, with one or more Egg Parachutes

The Egg Parachutes final will be held on Thursday 21st October 2004
