The Incredible Indestructible Crisp Challenge

The Challenge:

Design a package that will allow a single formed potato crisp to survive a series of daring challenges that would destroy a normal crisp.

The Rules:

The package must be no more than 10x12x14cm in size.

The package must keep the crisp in an edible state.

Nothing may be applied to the crisp - it must be able to be completely removed from the package.

You may modify, improve or change the packaging for each part of the challenge.

The Materials:

You may use...

2 A4 sheets of thick paper/card

Unlimited normal paper

Sticky tape

Glue

String

One crisp per team

The parts of the Challenge:

1) Survive a drop from 3 metres

2) Survive the impact of a heat-proof mat from a height of 1 metre

3) Survive a throw of at least 15 metres onto hard group

4) Survive the impact of a heat-proof mat and 100g mass from a height of 2 metres

5) Survive continuous shaking in a box for 30 seconds

6) Survive the impact of a 1kg mass from a height of 2 metres

The Points:

In each round, surviving crisps will score 10 points, except for rounds 5) and 6) which score 15 points.

Bonus points will be awarded in each round as follows:

3 bonus points for "Most Attractive"

3 bonus points for "Best Design"

3 bonus points for "Best Idea"

2 bonus points for "Most likely to fail"

Each team may only win bonus points once per round.

The Prizes:

The winning team and runners-up will receive tubes of crisps, along with some mystery bonus prizes too!
