Project Ideas - Summer 2005

The members of ScienceVT will be involved in more new projects
during the school year, September 2005 to July 2006. UPDATED: January
2006!
Here are some new ideas that we may be following up throughout
the year:

Make
a timing device using sand that times exactly 60 seconds |

Build
the tallest tower possible with marshmallows and straws, that can support
a creme egg |

Parachute
designing to hit a target safely |
 |
Making
an egg-catcher |
 |
Preparing
a whole-school assembly about part of Science |
 |
Create
a zoom machine that can travel a short distance quickly |
 |
Build
towers that can hold the greatest mass |
 |
Develop
air-powered rockets that can cover the longest distance |
 |
Design
speedboats that can move across water in the least possible time |
 |
Make
boats that can hold the greatest mass from the simplest materials |
 |
Encourage
other pupils to be interested in Science by running a Science Club or
Science Masterclass |
 |
Run
another Science Fair in the summer months |
 |
Work
with other Vertical Tutor Groups on joint projects |
 |
Learn
about new scientific developments from magazines and the internet |
